We wanted to share an important update regarding this year’s Flamingo Float.

Due to the expected weather conditions and new safety concerns from our environmental company, regarding the use of containment booms, we must adjust the format of the event. Safety for our participants, volunteers, wildlife, and waterways is our absolute top priority.

The Flamingo Float will now become the Flamingo Drop.

Instead of traveling through the pass, all flamingos will be placed into the race container and dropped onto a designated target area. The flamingo that lands closest to the bullseye will win the 2026 Jeep Wrangler.

We want to apologize immensely for this change. We are truly disappointed that our flamingos won’t be taking their iconic dip this year, but we cannot and will not take any chances when it comes to safety or environmental impact.

Per our official event rules, we may change any element of the event, with or without notice, at any time, for any reason. This flexibility allows us to respond quickly and responsibly in situations just like this.

All other activities, prizes, and event programming will remain the same, and we are still looking forward to an amazing morning supporting The Children’s Dream Fund and celebrating our community.

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you!

The Flamingo Float is one of Tampa Bay’s most colorful and exciting annual events, taking place at John's Pass in Madeira Beach. This fun-filled, family-friendly fundraiser is FREE to attend, making it a perfect day out for locals and visitors alike. To join the race, it’s just $5 to adopt a flamingo, with all proceeds benefiting the Children’s Dream Fund. Depending on where you park, there may be a small parking fee near John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk.

The Flamingo Float at Madeira Beach is more than just a race—it’s a community celebration with a mission. Every flamingo adoption helps support the Children’s Dream Fund in granting life-changing dreams for children battling life-threatening illnesses across the St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay area. To date, the nonprofit has granted over 4,200 dreams, ranging from meeting sports heroes to unforgettable family adventures.

By participating in the Flamingo Float, you’re not only enjoying a day of fun, but also helping to bring hope, joy, and lasting memories to children and families in need. Gather your friends, adopt your flamingos, and cheer them on as they “float” to the finish line at Madeira Beach’s iconic John’s Pass.
